This is a photo recollection of my holiday in mid 2005, which I shall named "5 Islands and a Peninsular"!
Basically because I went to 5 Islands:

1)Borneo (Where I come from)
2)Labuan
3)Penang
4)Redang
5)Langkawi

And a peninsular : Peninsular Malaysia

Labuan: Enroute to Balik Kampung!!

Quite a journey to balik kampung, flew from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur to Labuan. Labuan took a express boat to Limbang.

Went looking around in Labuan as I had a few hours to spend...Don't like to simply sit around doing nothing...Noted some changes compared to the last time I went there. The Marine Center is open to public already. Quite nice. Free entry also. The staff was very friendly. Offered me an umbrella as it was quite hot though I am a guy..haha.. but of course, I didn't accept. Not that fragile.

Left: The chimney-like pillars near Labuan's Padang
Right and below: Marine Park

Kampung Finally: Labuan to Limbang(Borneo)

Left: Life is simple and pleasant in Limbang. Water Lily beside a road. Even Solomon in all his splendour was not dressed like one of this. *I didn't take photo of the road though.
Right: Sunset view from Tasik Mas

Left: Chinese call it kan lan. Native call it tempayau. To make it simple, basically local olive.
Right: Red coloured durian. Less heaty than the yellow coloured one. Chinese call it 'san liu lian'.

Above: Little creepy visitors to my house. Beetle, dragonfly and praying mantis.

Above: Sunrise view from my house. No tall buildings to block the view yet.

Short tour to neighbouring Brunei

One of the mosques in Brunei. They have quite a number of big mosques there for a small country.

Peninsular Malaysia, here I come

Limbang and our popular rural air service. A must try for city people especially those who think Boeing 737 is too small. BTW, I didn't use the plane all the way to KL. Will be too adventurous to do that. Overnight in Miri, had plenty of good food (sorry, no photo). Then took Air Asia to KL.

Left: Two tour guides (actually my friends) beside me in the Curve. Yi Chuin, the one on my right wearing a Sarawak T shirt. That's the way, man. The Curve is a new shopping complex with open air concept in Petaling Jaya. Pretty cool.
Right: Went to Tropicana Resort. Basically where rich people stay or those pretending to be rich love to hang out.

Hoping to Penang and Terengganu

First meal in Penang with Debbie, my Penang friend number 1 and her brothers and friend.

Right: Trying to look like Ah beng with new found friends after lunch.
Left: Posing in front of other people's house when the owner is not around.

Went to Khoo Kongsi. Sounds like kongsi gelap hideout, but actually not. Basically a place where the first Khoo came and marked their land.

Went across to mainland Peninsular Malaysia for fun.

Left: Not Redang yet. But mainland Seberang Prai
Right: Finding Francis Light's grave

Left: Breakfast in Terengganu with friends and new found friends. Actually I am not in the photo, so yea, I have not changed much if you wondered how come I look so different.
Right: Traditional boat making in Terengganu. If you can see clearly, there is an Ah Pek boat maker behind me.

Destination Redang

Left: Very tempting swimming pool, but the sea is better. Got fish and corals inside. Hmm..who goes to Redang to swim in swimming pool?
Right: Redang Island seen from speedboat.

Left: Picturesque scene from Redang
Right: Me, trying to take a lot of photos before I get sunburnt.

Left: Another scenic view from Redang. BTW, lots of reef sharks near the rocky hills.
Right: Trying to get free coconuts.

Left: Commander of the speedboat
Right: Not a mermaid. Just me, sitting on the bow the speedboat.

On the way back to Penang from Redang.
Left: Eating Jagung manis
Right: Stopped at a papaya farm

Left: Snakehead fish. There was a much bigger in the fish tank.
Right: Thailand behind us

Penang with Love

Oh, actually mean love of food if you wonder how I suddenly become more romantic. Food actually binds Malaysians together. When Debbie introduced me to her brothers and friend, we instantly found common grounds, chatting away like close friends on the dining table.

Jalan-jalan in Penang

Went to Bukit Bendera with Hooi Yin, my Penang friend number 2. Direct translation from Malay, it's called Flag Hill. But somehow they call it Penang Hill. Actually can see pretty good view from there, the photo doesn't do it any justice.

Canopy wall in Bukit Bendera

Left: Went to Fort Cornvallis. Was one of the few tourists there.
Right: Posed with a gun, a real man and a fake man.

Traditional cigarette, nutmeg, betal nuts, kapur and daun sirih. Daun Sirih is what the local loved to chew on before the arrival of chewing gum.

Inspired by Jet Li. My martial art pose at Kek Lok Si Temple (when no one was looking of course).

Left: Near Sleeping Buddha Temple
Right: Ahh... foot massage. That guy is pretty good. He did it for free also!!! Only in Malaysia!!

Final Island: Langkawi

Err.. can't remember what's that mountain called. But nice view from the top and cable car. BTW that's my cool sunglasses. Sadly I lost it after a few days..haii...

Left: Pantai Cenang in Langkawi
Right: Back to KL. Final stop of my holiday before flying back to Melbourne. Went out for afternoon tea in some indian restaurant with my friends in Petaling Jaya. They have pretty nice roti.
